There's a Bill, But is there a Way?
This week Bill Gates has been all over the news, first, discussing climate change with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, then with the release of his new book “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need.”
At ClimateOpps, we have already devoured the book; it is a nuanced insight into the challenges climate change poses to our global community. And we would recommend that everyone picks up a copy to pass out to their non-climate obsessed friends.
We found a lot of potential on the innovation and tech side coming from Gates. Still, at the same time, we understand the critiques stemming from the book’s lack of nature-based solutions for adaptation and mitigation to the financing of climate solutions or a deeper dive into moving the financial markets to become more climate-centric? We would love to hear what you think in the comment section below.
“We have more educated people than ever. We have a generation that's speaking out on this topic. And, you know, I got to participate in the miracle of the personal computer and the internet. And so, yes, I have a bias to believe innovation can do these things.”
